What is EPEL?

• Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux
• Packages people would like to run on RHEL but no one wants to support
• Started in 2008 for RHEL-4/5
• Takes packages from Fedora and recompile for EL
• Currently supports EL-6 and EL-7.
